Our 2026 AGM — Ngā Mihi
On Saturday 23 May, we held our Annual General Meeting at Waitangi Golf Club. Sixteen whānau attended in person and the conversation was rich. A huge mihi to the Waitangi Golf Club for our beautiful venue and to Peini Apiata for keeping us watered and fed with beautiful kai. And of course, an even bigger mihi to everyone who came and made the day what it was.
At the AGM we presented the Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2025. Some highlights: ten board hui held, $10,000 distributed to our two home marae, four external funding applications submitted, and a year-end surplus of $9,469 on total revenue of $36,590. The full Annual Report is available on our website.

2026 Whānau and Hapū Initiative Fund — Now Open
The Trust's first contestable funding round is now open. The 2026 Whānau and Hapū Initiative Fund supports practical, group-led kaupapa that create collective benefit for descendants of Maikuku rāua ko Huatakaroa.
This is not a hardship fund or individual sponsorship. It is for kaupapa that bring descendants together, strengthen culture or wellbeing, and benefit a whānau, hapū, marae or community group.
Who can apply? Whānau groups, hapū groups, marae, registered beneficiaries applying on behalf of a group, and affiliated community organisations. You do not need to be a registered trust or incorporated society.
What do you need? A named contact person, a clear kaupapa with collective benefit, a simple budget, and a way to confirm responsible use of funds (receipts and a short report).
Two funding tiers:
Funding tier | Amount |

Larger kaupapa | Up to $5,000 |
