OUR MARAE
Our marae are the heart of our identity and the living expression of our whakapapa to Maikuku and Huatakaroa. They are places of connection, learning, and cultural continuity — where our values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and kaitiakitanga are practised every day.
Through our work, Ngā Uri o Maikuku rāua ko Huatakaroa 1891 Trust (NUOMRKH) maintains close relationships with both Waitangi Marae and Oromāhoe Marae, recognising them as key anchors of hapū life across our rohe. Each marae carries its own stories, tikanga, and responsibilities, yet together they represent the shared aspirations of Ngāti Rēhia and our wider whānau.

Situated at the historic birthplace of our nation, Waitangi Marae stands as a symbol of unity, dialogue, and mana Māori motuhake. It remains a gathering place for whānau, hapū, iwi, and manuhiri — upholding the legacy of those who first met on these lands.
Nestled inland among the rolling whenua of Oromāhoe, this marae embodies the strength and warmth of our hapū. It continues to nurture cultural practice, intergenerational learning, and whānau connection.
